Chef Tony was born in Sapporo and was traditionally trained as a sushi chef in Japan. After moving from Japan to Hawaii to serving celebrities in Los Angles, and many other travels, Tony eventually opened a small restaurant for those lucky enough to find it in the back of a shopping center in Akron Ohio. He is friendly and entertaining, and always makes everyone feel welcome, whether they are a regular at his place, a new customer looking for traditional Japanese sushi, or are new to both sushi and his restaurant. The usual maki, nigiri sushi and sashimi are offered at with high quality and freshness. But he also offers excellent specialty rolls and a variety of other dishes. The sunomonos are what I remember most, the seaweed and the rest of the salad was almost as good as the seafood. Try the octopus or “white fish” - usually red snapper or a fish of similar high quality. Tony tends to make his dishes a little heavier on wasabi than many other sushi chefs, which some customers will like and others won't. The only thing I was disappointed in was the Kani, while there is nothing wrong with his processed krab sticks, I expected real crab legs given the quality of the rest of the food. Try to take advantage of the daily specials to save money. Strongly recommended.
