"The finest sushi place in Nashville, and in my opinion one of the very best you'll find anywhere outside of Japan. The owner, Hajimi Keruma (known to all the regulars as "Haji"), his wife, and his son all work there. Haji is the itamae, and has built up a huge following since he first came to Nashville about 26 years ago. He started out working in Nashville's first authentic Japanese establishment, the old Shogun Restaurant, then set out on his own when it closed. He first opened Koto Sushi Bar in tiny, crowded quarters on 4th Avenue South. Within a few years, his business outgrew that location, and he found another on 7th Avenue North. Koto operated there for many years, but was recently forced to move because the building was about to be demolished. He managed to obtain a prime spot in the shadow of the State Capital building for his new location. Go there and give Koto a try. You'll find world-class sushi in beautiful new surroundings. I know, because I was one of Haji's first customers at Shogun, and have followed him to his various locations all these years. I've tried sushi in many other places, but have never found any that matched the quality, freshness, and presentation of Haji's. My daughter first accompanied me there as a little girl – who, by the way, wouldn't touch sushi. She is now a sushi enthusiast who lives in Florida, and looks forward to visiting Koto whenever she comes to Tennessee to visit her daddy. She often eats sushi at some of the best places in South Florida, but also thinks that Koto's is the best." - inoculate128
